Yellow Breeches Creek Watershed

Located in Cumberland County outside of Harrisburg, the Yellow Breeches Creek was designated part of Pennsylvania's Scenic Rivers System in 1993 and is a world-renowned trout fishery that supports more than 150 species of birds, reptiles, amphibians, and mammals. The creek also provides drinking water to area residents through two dams that serve the United Water Company and the Pennsylvania American Water Company. It is, therefore, a vital resource to the local community.

Since 2000, HRG has been working with Lower Allen Township and the Yellow Breeches Creek Watershed Association to monitor and preserve this natural resource, helping them to obtain more than $300,000 in grants to conduct a watershed assessment and develop a rivers conservation plan. We are completing these projects for the association by creating an inventory of watershed resources, identifying and ranking watershed problems, and developing strategies to solve these problems.

The final reports of our assessment and conservation plan are now available. Any questions you have on these documents should be directed to Al Brulo at abrulo@hrg-inc.com or (717) 564-1121.
